Even on an off day, fans of the New Jersey Devils were buzzing. Everyone is riding on the Mrs. Fields hype train, however, what really has everyone in a good mood is the Devils’ recent play. Despite missing some of their best players, the Devils are rising to the occasion.
In the links, why New Jersey says this win streak is different. Plus, Jesper Bratt is driving the bus.
Elsewhere, the latest on Kyle Palmieri’s contract, cashing out in Sin City, and there could be some drastic changes depending on the outcome of the upcoming GM meetings.
Let’s do that hockey.
New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils have won three games in a row for the first time in a long time. Thursday night’s win was probably their biggest one of the season. Here’s why they say this win streak is different.
More NJHN: It really is fun to see the Devils find their Grimace. The Mrs. Field dessert cookie has brought the fans to their feet in the Prudential Center, and the team on the ice has certainly noticed. However, it’s not a cookie that’s fueling the Jack Hughes-less Devils. It’s Jesper Bratt.
Even More: A true underdog story came full circle on Friday when the Devils inked Xavier Parent to a one-year, entry-level contract.

NYI Hockey Now: He was a player that the Devils certainly had interest in at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. However, the New York Islanders opted to keep Kyle Palmieri, unlike Brock Nelson, who they traded to the Colorado Avalanche. Word is that Palmieri and the Islanders are nearing an agreement on his next contract.
Vegas Hockey Now: Speaking of extensions, the Vegas Golden Knights did it again. Adin Hill is remaining in Sin City for the next six seasons. It looks all well and good right now, but what are the long-term implications?
The Athletic ($): 84-game seasons? Starting in September? Canceling the All-Star game in 2026? It’s all on the table at the next meeting between the 32 NHL GMs next week.
