Today marks the beginning of a very busy holiday week for the New Jersey Devils. They’ll play four games through Saturday, including a home game today, and have another tilt on the following Monday. That’s a lot of hockey in a condensed amount of time. Fortunately, most of it will be local, so they’ll at least have their own beds to sleep in at the end of each night.
In the links, the Devils’ biggest strength this year is obvious, yet surprising.

Boston Hockey Now: Well, that didn’t take very long at all. Former Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery already has a new job. He’s now the bench boss of the St. Louis Blues.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: TSN’s Darren Dreger reports that Penguins GM Kyle Dubas and staff have been heavily scouting the Montreal Canadiens. If there’s a Penguins trade in the pipeline, those two seemed destined to connect on a deal at some point.
Philly Hockey Now: Owen Tippett developed into a cornerstone to the Philadelphia Flyers rebuild last season when he nearly touched 30 goals. However, he’s been a disappointment through the quarter mark of the season.
