Sunday should be a thriller in the NHL.
There are four games on the card, and the league has staggered the starts perfectly.
Winnipeg and St. Louis kick things off at 1 p.m., and the action should continue throughout the day until the Kings and Oilers wrap it up with a 9:30 p.m. puck drop from Edmonton.
Days like these are to be cherished for hockey bettors, because there won’t be too many more like them with Round 1 winding down over the next few days.
Let’s try to take advantage by building a 390/1, all-day parlay with one bet from each game. All odds via FanDuel.
This series has had a little bit of everything through three games.
There’s been a back-and-forth thriller, a 2-1 nail-biter, and a blowout win for the Blues in Game 3 to fight their way back into the series.
One thing we haven’t seen yet in this best-of-seven series is overtime, which is surprising given how the first two games of this matchup played out.
Game 4 should be cagey, with Winnipeg looking to get its defense back on track after getting shell-shocked Thursday.
The bet: 60-minute draw (+320)
The Devils fought their way back into this series with a 3-2 win in double overtime in Game 3 on Friday, and they could put some heat on the heavily favored Hurricanes with another victory Sunday.
The Devils were not given much of a chance before this series and were completely written off after falling behind 2-0, but they have stuck with it, despite a rash of injuries at the worst possible time.
Carolina’s goaltending has held firm through the first three games, but Frederik Andersen is always a threat to have a letdown in a big moment.
We’ll bet on that narrative Sunday, with a play on the Devils to win by at least two goals.
The bet: Devils -1.5 (+340)
This one has chaos written all over it. The Canadiens earned their way into this series with a 6-3 win Friday, but the real story here is that both teams lost their starting goaltender in Game 3, and it’s unclear who will man the blue paint for either side Sunday.
There was also a crazy brawl at the end of the second period, which turned up the heat a whole bunch of notches.
I’d expect more of the same in Game 4, with the raucous Bell Centre crowd doing its part to add fuel to the fire. Goaltending uncertainty, bad blood, and two teams with plenty of scoring punch give this game all the right Over ingredients.
The bet: Over 7.5 goals (+285)
The Oilers got on the board with a Game 3 win, but what’s been most surprising is the amount of scoring in this series — 30 goals in the first three games — with each contest being thrown off script thanks to a slew of early tallies.
The Kings will likely put an emphasis on taking the sting out of this game on the road, while the Oilers will need to continue to protect goaltender Calvin Pickard, who replaced Stuart Skinner midway through Game 2. I think there’s a decent chance this one gets to the first intermission at nil-nil.
The bet: First Period Under 0.5 Goals (+450)
