The following Stanley Cup betting odds are courtesy of Bovada:

The Edmonton Oilers (-125) are betting favorites to win their first Stanley Cup since 1990! The 1993 Montreal Canadiens are the last Canadian-based organization to win the Cup, so the Oilers have an opportunity to make history.
They also had a chance to do the same a season ago against the Florida Panthers (+105). The Oilers came up short in seven games in a thrilling series versus the Eastern Conference champs in 2024. Now, the Oilers have a 55.6% implied probability to win this year’s Stanley Cup!
The best NHL betting sites expect this to be a tightly played series, with another potential Game 7 matchup on the docket. Currently, the series is favored to go over 6 total games. At -120, there is a small edge to the series going over 6 at 54.5%. Additionally, the Panthers are -235 at +1.5, so a 70.1% implied chance to win the series or lose in Game 7.

After winning their first Stanley Cup in franchise history in 2024, Paul Maurice’s Panthers are back in the championship series. They faltered down the stretch and only finished third in the Atlantic Division. However, the Panthers were dealing with a rash of injuries and suspensions that handcuffed them in the final weeks.
Now, in much healthier shape, and defenseman Aaron Ekblad back from his suspension, the Panthers have been the most dominant team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They are 12-5 over their last 17 postseason games and won 11 of their previous 12 series since the first round in 2023.

Additionally, the Panthers lead all teams in the NHL playoffs with 66 goals, for an average of 3.88. The Oilers scored 65 goals in one fewer game, so their goals per game is slightly higher. Nevertheless, the Panthers have the advantage when it comes to playing physical hockey and on defense.
Florida ranks first in the league, with 2.29 goals against per game in the postseason. Ekblad’s return and Sergei Bobrovsky’s effort through three rounds have made all the difference. Bobrovsky enters the Stanley Cup Final with a 2.11 GAA and 0.912 save percentage.
Give the Panthers the upper hand in the crease, which is critically important at this stage of the playoffs. And, while I respect the Oilers’ depth, the Panthers win in this department as well. The key addition of Brad Marchand at the trade deadline might be the move that ends up being the deciding factor!
At plus odds, the Panthers are certainly a wager to think about as one of the best 2025 Stanley Cup betting picks.
The Oilers achieved their goal of getting back to the Stanley Cup Final after failing to complete the comeback last year. Now, can they win one more game than they did a season ago?
With their pure team speed, the Panthers are going to be under loads of pressure to counter Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. When McDavid and Draisaitl get a step, defenses find it difficult to clog the lanes and stop them from getting to the crease.
Edmonton averaged 4.06 goals per game to lead the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Led by Corey Perry and Draisaitl, the Oilers have eight players who have scored at least five goals in the postseason.

Yes, the 40-year-old Perry has seven games, demonstrating the impressive depth the Oilers have shown throughout the Western Conference Final. That being said, their depth will be tested after it was ruled that left winger Zach Hyman will be out until next year.
While the Oilers were able to handle the Stars in the later part of their 4-1 series win in Dallas, any injury is important against a team like Florida. The Oilers are getting tremendous production out of role players like Perry, but the Panthers are physical enough to apply a ton of pressure on them.

My biggest concern is which goaltender is going to show up between the pipes for the Oilers. Stuart Skinner was outstanding in the Western Conference Final and outplayed Jake Oettinger. However, he’s such an inconsistent goalie that he could easily revert to bad Skinner.
The goalie holds a 2.53 GAA and .904 save percentage in 10 games in the playoffs this season. In 45 playoff games in his career, Skinner has a 2.76 GAA and 0.897 save percentage. If Skinner holds up, the Oilers are in business! McDavid and Draisaitl will be able to take care of the rest.
Now, let’s delve into my NHL Stanley Cup Final prediction between the Panthers and Oilers! Is the Cup going back to Canada for the first time since 1993? If Skinner remains in top form, the Oilers will have a good chance of pulling it off in a revenge spot over the Panthers.
It will also require the Oilers’ speed to catch the Panthers off-guard. However, I’m not so confident that it will work as well as it did versus the Stars. Maurice’s defense always seems to be in the right spot at the perfect time. The forwards backcheck and all five players on the ice are in the right position to clog up passing lanes.
The Panthers only needed five games to beat the Hurricanes, and two of their three series, for good reason. When their opponents tried to set up shop in the Panthers’ zone, it was increasingly difficult to work the puck around because the Panthers were constantly shutting down lanes.
Combine that with a physical team who wins puck battles in the corner, and the Panthers are a tough team to beat. Despite needing seven games versus the Maple Leafs, they didn’t allow their stars to get going, as Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner were non-factors offensively. Credit to their head coach whose system has resonated tenfold in Sunrise.

I’ll side with the more physical squad and dependable goaltender at plus odds in this matchup. They should also be the looser team without nearly as much pressure on their shoulders. I’d like to see Perry finally win a Cup, and the celebrations in Edmonton would be must-see, so it’s a win-win either way. Nevertheless, for my money, the Panthers are the best 2025 Stanley Cup Final betting pick!
