Game 1 was a wild affair, but now we’re ready for Game 2 in this round of NHL Predictions. Leon Draisaitl opened and closed the game with goals as the Oilers took the series-opener by a score of 4-3. Florida had a 3-1 lead, but Edmonton turned things around to get the overtime victory.
The Oilers never held the series-lead in last year’s Stanley Cup Final, so this is new territory. However, the Panthers were down 0-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round and rallied.
Let’s take a look at the stats, storylines and matchups heading into Game 2 in our NHL predictions.

Florida overcame a slow start to reel off the game’s next three goals in the opener. Sam Bennett scored twice as it looked like the Panthers were going to get the advantage once again. However, the Oilers got three straight goals to finish out the game.
Sergei Bobrovsky will draw the start once again for Florida in this one. He made 42 saves and did all he could to help the Panthers steal Game 1. However, the defence will need to limit the shot volume in order to give him a chance.
Bennett leads the post-season with 12 goals and is tops on the team in points with 18. Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk next in line in points with 17.
Edmonton continued their recent run after dropping the first two games of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Kings. The Oilers are 13-2 in the last 15 games after their sluggish start in the first two games.
Stuart Skinner was solid again with 29 saves in Game 1. He’s really recovered after having issues earlier in the playoffs. However, Skinner has been a streaky goalie at numerous points in his career.
Draisaitl (28 points) and Connor McDavid (27) are the team’s leaders in points. However, contributions from players like Corey Perry have big in this run.
Prediction
One thing Florida does well is adjust. Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice is very good at making changes and figuring out how to improve from game-to-game.
It’ll be Oilers Head Coach Kris Knoblauch’s job to keep things humming along for his team. However, Florida should get home-ice advantage with a Game 2 win.
Prediction: Panthers win 4-3.
We wrap up NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under for this game is 6.5 and we feel that gets covered just like the last game.
As for individual props, go with Brad Marchand to score for the Panthers. On the Oilers side of things, take Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to notch a point.
