We open NHL predictions with an “Original Six” battle between the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens. Jonathan Quick is the likely starter with the the Blueshirts playing on Saturday night. However, always check social media before locking in a fantasy starter. New York is 6-2-2 in the last 10 and has won two in a row. Artemi Panarin leads in goals (19) and points (47) for the Blueshirts.
Rookie sensation Jakub Dobes is the probable starter as he carries his 4-0-0 record and 0.98 goals-against-average into this one. Montreal is probably smarting after a 7-3 loss to the rival Toronto Maple Leafs in this one. However, the Habs are still in thick of the race for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot. Cole Caufield has the team’s lead in goals with 24 so far this campaign.
The Habs will come out motivated and Dobes has yet to be figured out so far. Montreal gets a key win over a team seeking a post-season spot.
Prediction: Canadiens win 3-1.

Our featured game of NHL predictions has the Wings meeting the Stars for the first time this season. Alex Lyon is the confirmed starter for Detroit, which is 8-2 in the last 10 games. The Red Wings are coming off a loss, but have played better since Todd McLellan took over behind the bench. Patrick Kane has turned back the clock with six goals and 10 assists over the past 10 games.
Dallas is slated to turn to Jake Oettinger for this game after a 6-3 defeat to the Colorado Avalanche. The Stars are 7-3 in the last 10 games, but have dropped two in a row. Jason Robertson has played well as of late with six goals and nine assists over the past 10 games.
Both teams have been playing better hockey as of late, but Dallas gets a bounce-back win over Detroit.
Prediction: Stars win 4-2.
