Ivan Demidov leads the Calder Trophy odds ahead of the 2025-26 NHL season. Can he live up to the hyp and give Montreal back-to-back Calder winners?
The 2025 NHL Draft is slated for Friday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
With a new draft class comes a new batch of rookies who are eligible for the Calder Trophy as the league’s best rookie.
The early Calder Trophy odds favor a Montreal Canadien prospect, Ivan Demidov, who wet his whistle last season, registering two points in two games.
Odds as of 6-27
6/27/2025: Ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft, Ivan Demidov is the overwhelming favorite to win the 2025-26 Calder Trophy. The Montreal Canadiens draft pick played in just two games last year for the Habs, registering one goal and one assist. Given his immense talent and a roster that appears to be better from top to bottom, Demidov could be the first Russian player to win the Calder Trophy since Kirill Kaprizov (2020-2021).
Most sportsbooks will display odds in the American format as listed above. When the regular season is nearly finished and a consensus has emerged, you might see a player with a minus sign (-) ahead of his odds, like this:
The (-) means that Demidov is the odds-on favorite, and a bettor would need to wager $400 to win $100. Other contenders in the Calder race might have plus (+) odds to win.
Here, a bettor stood to profit $900 for every $100 wagered.
