The wait is finally over, as the 2024-25 NHL season begins with a dynamic tripleheader Tuesday.
First, the Kraken host the Blues in a game between two teams that just missed the playoffs last season. St. Louis recorded 92 points, the most of any team to not qualify for the postseason.
The Panthers begin their quest to defend their Stanley Cup title against their playoff nemesis from past years, the Bruins. Last year, Florida ousted Boston in six games to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, en route to capturing the franchise’s first Stanley Cup.

Then, in the nightcap, the Utah Hockey Club plays its first ever regular season game against Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks. Bedard begins his highly-anticipated encore to a dazzling rookie season, in which he won the Calder Memorial Trophy. Utah, meanwhile, went 5-2 in the preseason as it prepares for its inaugural season.

All three games of the NHL’s opening night tripleheader will air live on ESPN.
Mike Monaco (play-by-play), Ray Ferraro (color analyst), and Stormy Buonantony (reporter) will have the call for Blues vs. Kraken.
Sean McDonough (play-by-play), Ryan Callahan (color analyst), and Emily Kaplan (reporter) will have the call for Bruins vs. Panthers.
And Bob Wischusen (play-by-play), Ray Ferraro (color analyst), and AJ Mleczko (color analyst), and Leah Hextall (reporter) will call Utah Hockey Club vs. Blackhawks.
