Check out our favorite captain plays for tonight’s DFS Showdown contest for Game 2 between the Oilers and Panthers.

The Oilers took Game 1 in overtime and are looking to extend the series lead to two games in tonight’s Game 2 matchup against the Panthers. DraftKings is offering Showdown contests for the Stanley Cup Final, and below, I broke down my two favorite captain plays that worth consideration for your DFS lineups.

McDavid is locked in and playing with revenge. He’s recorded 2+ points in four straight games, averaging 19.8 FPTS in that span, and will continue to work his magic tonight in Game 2. The 28-year-old center willed his team back into the game by setting up both the game-tying and game-winning goals. He stuffed the stat sheet elsewhere, posting three hits, four shots on goal and two blocked shots, good for 18.6 FPTS.
It’s a hefty salary to start your lineup with tonight but McDavid is well worth his price tag. His willingness to get pucks on net as often as possible while matching Florida’s physicality was evident in Game 1 and it’s likely going to continue again tonight. He logged seven shot attempts and logged over 31 minutes of ice time––the opportunities will be there. If the physicality continues, which it will, penalties will be called and McDavid will have even more opportunities on the power play.

For the sake of saving some salary, Verhaeghe aka “Playoff Verhaeghe” is a great choice to build your lineups around. The Canadian winger assisted on both of Sam Bennett’s goals in Game 1 and has continued to be a consistent threat for Florida this postseason. Although Verhaeghe failed to record a shot on goal on five shot attempts, he still posted 10.0 FPTS and has been a driving force for Florida on the road this postseason, particularly last round vs. the Hurricanes.
He won’t be discouraged by his shot output from Game 1 either because he will forever be a shoot-first player. Plus, Edmonton has allowed the most shots per game to opposing left wings this postseason, paving the way for a nice bounce-back game for Verhaeghe. He totaled two goals and four assists in three road games vs. Carolina last round while averaging 15.8 FPTS.
