Hunter Skoczylas shares his favorite NHL bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for tonight’s six-game slate.
There was a seven-game slate last night and there is a six-game slate tonight. Both the Islanders and Kings are the only teams with zero rest after playing last night. We should have a highly competitive slate tonight, too, as the Red Wings come in as the biggest Moneyline underdog at just +140 odds. That said, here are my favorite bets for tonight’s betting card on DraftKings Sportsbook.
2024-25 NHL Record: 18-14

Even at nearly +150 odds, this line still feels like great value. Winnipeg just lost its first game of the season on Monday night against Toronto but still remains one of the hottest teams in the league with an 8-1-0 record. Detroit, however, has struggled to score consistently and finds itself with just a 4-4-1 record. It should be Connor Hellebuyck vs. Alex Lyon, too, and while Lyon has helped Detroit secure two wins with strong play (2.05 goals allowed and .940 save percentage), Winnipeg and Hellebuyck still have the edge here.
The Jets have had fun facing the Red Wings in recent seasons –– winning seven of the last 10 matchups by an average of 2.8 goals per game. Winnipeg has totaled at least four goals in five of its last six games, and ranks second in goals per game (4.4). Taking the Jets to surpass 3.5 total goals (+100) could be a solid play, as well. The bottom line is that Detroit matches up very poorly against Winnipeg. It ranks 30th in penalty kill percentage (66.7%), which is not a good sign because Winnipeg fields the top power play unit (44.0%) and ranks second in power play goals (10) this season. Winnipeg should get tons of shots on net and take advantage of Detroit’s glaring weaknesses.
The public seems to be going back and forth with this game as the line has been moving all morning. Colorado is giving Kaapo Kahkonen his first start of the season, which bodes well for Tampa Bay. Kahkonen has floated around waivers over the last year or so and for good reason, too, because he has been putrid in net over the last three seasons. He has allowed 3.75 goals per game to go along with a .890 save percentage and is now starting in net for the team that has surrendered the second-most goals per game (4.10). Oh, and did I mention that the Avs are very banged up and defenseman Oliver Kylington is going to play forward tonight?
These two teams had opposite starts to their seasons. Tampa Bay started off 3-0 averaging four goals per game while Colorado started off 0-4 allowing a whopping 6.25 goals per game. Things have turned around since then for the Avs but the Bolts still come into this matchup with much more of an edge. While the Avs continue to score, ranking fifth in expected goal percentage (55.7%), that isn’t the case on defense, ranking second in goals allowed above expected (6.96). The Bolts rank seventh in goals per game (3.78) and 11th in expected goal percentage (51.71%), and should be able to take advantage of Kahkonen. Across the last 10 meetings between these teams, Tampa Bay has the slight 6-4 edge.
