Forward wins it at 2:49 after Raddysh ties it in 3rd; Nurse has 2 goals for Edmonton
Rangers at Oilers | Recap
EDMONTON — J.T. Miller scored at 2:49 of overtime and the New York Rangers rallied from down two in the third period to win 4-3 against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Thursday.
It was the second straight win for New York following a 1-4-2 stretch.
“We need the confidence. I think we liked at least two periods of our game on the road, we were playing a really good team at home,” Miller said. “We needed that to build some confidence and see some pucks go in and hopefully that can propel us and keep this going a little bit more on this road trip (which ends in Seattle on Saturday).
“We have a good chance to finish this off in the right way.”
Miller picked up the puck in the neutral zone and skated uncontested into the slot from the right side and buried a wrist shot under Stuart Skinner’s blocker.
“Little coverage responsibilities where [we could have used] probably a little more communication, but it should not have been a Grade-A scoring chance,” Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said. “We should have been able to deflect that, get that outside and maybe give up a shot, but certainly not him driving to the middle of the net. So, I think that’s disappointing in how that was played.”
Braden Schneider had a goal and an assist, and Jonny Brodzinski and Taylor Raddysh also scored for the Rangers (5-5-2). Igor Shesterkin made 33 saves.
It was the Rangers’ first multigoal, third-period comeback win since the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series on Feb. 18, 2024.
“Obviously, we’re thrilled with the effort to come back. It’s an indication of the character that we have in the room,” Rangers coach Mike Sullivan said. “I think our leadership group led the charge there and it’s fun to be a part of something like that when you can come back against a real good team like Edmonton.”

Darnell Nurse scored twice, Jake Walman had two assists, and Matt Savoie scored his first NHL goal for the Oilers (5-4-3), who had won their previous three at home. Skinner made 30 saves.
“The first 40 [minutes] were decent, then turnovers kind of turned the game,” said Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl, who had an assist to extend his personal point streak to seven games (10 points; five goals, five assists). “Self-inflicted mistakes, that’s all it is. It’s nothing magical that the other teams are doing. We’re just beating ourselves right now. It’s something we have to clean up.”
Brodzinski gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead at 5:44 of the first period when he intercepted a pass at the Rangers blue line blue line by Evan Bouchard, took it the other way and scored on a breakaway.

Nurse tied it 1-1 at 6:51. After Walman collected a pass back to the point from Jack Roslovic along the left boards, he faked the shot and sent it across to Nurse at the right dot for a one-timer through Shesterkin’s legs.
“It’s tough to win in this league,” Nurse said. “Teams are very skilled, and when you feed their transition, no matter who you’re playing against, they’re going to make you pay.”
Savoie put the Oilers ahead 2-1 on the power play at 8:48 of the second period. With one second left on the man-advantage, Adam Henrique dove for his own rebound at the side of the net and ended up knocking the puck in off of Savoie’s left skate.
Nurse extended the lead to 3-1 just 1:36 later at 10:24, taking a pass at the left side of the net from Isaac Howard and putting it on net from a sharp angle. The puck landed on top of Shesterkin’s left pad as he slid back in the crease, which was deemed to have completely crossed the goal line after video review.
Schneider made it 3-2 at 8:18 of the third period when he buried a rebound in the slot from a Will Cuylle shot.
“At the start, things weren’t really going our way,” Schneider said. “I thought we came out really good in the first and in the second period.
“I thought we lost it a little bit out there, but credit to the guys here for digging in, in the third and coming out with a point.”
Raddysh tied it 3-3 at 12:04 with a wrist shot from the slot. Conor Sheary knocked down a clearing attempt by Bouchard and fed a pass to Raddysh who skated into the zone and beat Skinner glove side.
“Cutting them out is definitely going to be big. When one turnover happens, we’ve got to not let it turn into two or three in a row,” Bouchard said. “Obviously, it’s happening a little more. That second turnover that led to a goal, I didn’t really try to make a play, it’s off a stick and in the back of our net. That’s definitely got to get cleaned up. Playing harder is going to have to be something that I do.”
NOTES: Miller scored the 15th overtime goal of his career to tie Johnny Gaudreau for the second-most by an American player behind Max Pacioretty (16). … Cuylle extended his point streak to three games (three assists). … Bouchard had a five-game point streak end (seven points; one goal, six assists). … Henrique was honored for playing in his 1,000th NHL game on Oct. 21 with a pregame ceremony where he received a silver stick, commemorative crystal and a custom watch.
