(KNSI) – Huskies Men’s Hockey fans will want to be at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center early this weekend to ensure they are in their seats by puck drop.
St. Cloud State University has announced that metal detectors will be used to screen visitors at the arena this season. Walk-through detectors will be set up at the south atrium. Hand-held wands will be employed at the north entrance closer to Halenbeck Hall.
The school says the change came about after officials reviewed survey responses about the game day experience. In addition to the metal detectors, a bag check policy will also be implemented. Anything larger than five inches by eight inches will need to be inspected at the southwest ticketing station, located just to the left of the main doors.
St. Cloud State has been picked to finish eighth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference this season. They open up on Friday night at 6:00 with an exhibition tilt against one of the newest Division I programs, Augustana of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
On Saturday, the game counts in the standings. The Huskies will host the St. Thomas Tommies, also of the CCHA.
