You ever think about how Sidney Crosby hasn’t played a hockey game without the ‘C’ on his chest since the Golden Goal in 2010? That was 17 years ago lol
Long time Calgary Flames reporter Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes
Crosby to McDavid to MacKinnon should be on the back of the Canadian $50 bill.

Cheering for Connor McDavid once a year is so exhilarating, man y’all live like this????? What a luxury.
Sportsnet commentator Kevin Bieksa
This is going to be a lot different game than Canada – Czechia. The Swiss, one of the most under-rated nations in the world for hockey… This is a team and country that plays with a lot of speed and skill.
Daily Faceoff @DailyFaceoff
Team Canada is making multiple lineup changes for today’s game against the Swiss
– Logan Thompson is expected to get the start in goal
– Josh Morrissey will not play
– Brad Marchand and Jordan Binnington will not dress (rest)
– Seth Jarvis, Travis Sanheim, and Darcy Kuemper will dress
Vegas hockey writer for the Athletic Jesse Granger @JesseGranger_
Logan Thompson 🇨🇦 vs Akira Schmid 🇨🇭 Former VGK goalie vs current VGK goalie. Should be fun!
Former Oilers great Chris Pronger @chrispronger
Anyone expecting an easy night for Canada is kidding themselves. Switzerland plays tight, checks hard, and competes. Canada’s depth should wear them down, but early on I expect this one will be a grind. 🇨🇦 v. 🇨🇭
Edmonton Hockey News writer Caprice St. Pierre @caprice_stp
Today’s about enjoying Olympic hockey the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed when you’re a Canadian fan. No panic. No desperation. Just good hockey played by an elite team that’s hitting its stride.
Edmonton hockey blogger Jackie Bondurant JB 🇨🇦 @JackieBee_16
Holy shi*t Thompson!!! What a save
Sportsnet announcer Chris Cuthbert
Logan Thomson with a high-light reel save a minute twenty-six in. Welcome to the Olympics.
Sports llustrated hockey writer Ben Steiner @BenSteiner00
Sam Bennet gets tied up by Kukan, and Canada is heading to the power play for the first time against Switzerland. Maybe the most overpowered PP unit possible. Makar, McDavid, Crosby, Mackinnon, Reinhart out there.

McDavid first Olympic goal!!
Daily Faceoff hockey writer Steven Ellis @SEllisHockey
Connor McDavid was drafted 3,885 days ago. It shouldn’t have taken him that long to be able to score his first Olympic goal.
Spittin’ Chiclets podcaster Paul Bissonnette @BizNasty2point0
Holy scorpion save Akira Schmid!!! Crosby gets absolutely robbed. 😱
NHL insider Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
What a pass by McDavid… McDavid waited 11 years to play in the Olympics, so yeah, he’s not wasting time to make an impact
Montreal hockey columnist the The Athletic Arpon Basu @ArponBasu
Connor McDavid with a ridiculous saucer feed to Thomas Harley backdoor and he beats Akira Schmid five hole, 2-0 Canada. McDavid has five points on Canada’s seven Olympic goals so far.
Former Oiler and Ryan Whitney @ryanwhitney6
McDavid is unstoppable right now
Oilers fan Madi-🇨🇦🥇🇨🇦 @Madi39
This small ice is an absolute nightmare to defend Mcdavid lol he just creates time and space so well

Switzerland on the board with a power-play goal at 12:42. Pius Suter scores it after Logan Thompson couldn’t handle Sven Andrighetto’s one-timer from the top of the right circle. It’s 2-1.

Thompson should have had that. Go get another one Canada
The Athletic’s James Mirtle @mirtle
Switzerland looks great. 10 NHLers and by far their most talented roster in best on best ever. The country that has taken the most steps from beyond the old Big Seven hockey nations.
Oilers fan Den Polland @oilersgm2
just wondering if you have an update on who the best player in the world is? Is the Olympics McDavids coming out party? That’s wild to say but he seems to have another gear, on another gear, on another gear, on another gear

Celebrini you sick puppy. What a player. 🇨🇦
The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Team Canada powers up after the penalty kill with Celebrini-McDavid-MacKinnon and it pays off with a dizzying set of passing plays that end up with Celebrini one-timing it home for a 3-1 lead. Second time this game that those three have played together.
ESPN hockey writer Ryan S. Clark @ryan_s_clark
Playing Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon and Macklin Celebrini together is the greed they talked about in The Bible.
Oilers fan Mark 📸 @TheLineBlender
McDavid-Macklin is SICK
(Get McDavid a star winger, Bowman)
Oilers fan K-JAM @KevinJamieson86
Put Celebrini on PP 1 instead of Reinhart. I dare you.
The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Swiss fans threw 2 cups on the ice during play after a missed penalty call on Sam Bennett. Yikes.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
Canadian bench is irate as fans are throwing beer cups onto the ice here in Milan.
Sportsnet’s Mark Spector🇨🇦🇺🇦 @SportsnetSpec
No Canadian SHOULD condone such a waste of good beer.
Daily Faceoff @DailyFaceoffJon Cooper has put together the following line ⬇️
Celebrini – McDavid – MacKinnon
Good luck to the rest of the world.
Hockey prospects scout Byron Bader @ByronMBader
Team Canada is all superstars/stars except Bennett, Wilson, Parayko and Sanheim. Pretty good.
Oilers fan Adam @Asnow119
Thompson looks good out there. He’s getting a bit of work tonight.
NHL.com’s Dan Rosen @drosennhl
Three of the top four scorers in the NHL this season are playing on the same line right now for Canada.
Chris Pronger @chrispronger
Hard nosed game as advertised. Canada has had some glorious opportunities but still 3-1 after 2. Let’s see if the Swiss can keep this frenetic pace up.
Edmonton hockey columnist Terry Jones @byterryjones
Game 2. Period 2. McDavid, MacKinnon and Celebrini put on same line. Three of top four scorers in NHL history. No need for Wilson. McDavid hitting everybody.
David Staples, the Cult of Hockey
Logan Thompson with some big stops in net. Theodore-Parayko pairing struggling a bit, given up two dangerous odd-man rushes… Some excellent developments for Team Canada, including chemistry between Celebrini and McDavid, as well as between Harley and Doughty…Canada with 13 Grade A shots so far, Switzerland 10. Subset of more dangerous 5-alarm shots 7-3 for Canada.
Sportsent’s Elliotte Friedman
I think this is a great challenge for Canada. After that demolition against Czechia yesterday, the Swiss have played them hard physically. They’ve hit McDavid as much as he’s hit them. Canada needed this.
CBC’s James Duthie
Logan Thompson, it was really hard to out-do Binnington but he’s been terrific so far.
Sidney Crosby scores, Canada, 4, Switzerland, 1
Well that was pretty! 🚨

Good to see some production from Canada’s bottom 6
Sports Illustrated hockey writer Ben Steiner @BenSteiner00
Sidney Crosby scored his first goal at the Olympics since 2014. The last one he scored was against Sweden in the gold medal game of the Sochi tournament.
ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski @wyshynski
Sidney Crosby … he’s good!
The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Sidney Crosby on the re-direct, the captain gives Team Canada a 4-1 lead with 12:32 left in the third period. His line with Marner and Stone has been consistently excellent both games so far.
Go to the net and good things happen…. right, Nate? 🚨
Fonce au filet et tout peut arriver. Pas vrai, Nate? 🚨#MilanoCortina2026pic.twitter.com/F3VFSvaXLy
Terry Jones @byterryjones
Celebrini out of penalty box. McDavid and MacKinnon. Celebrini to McDavid and MacKinnon scores. Sixth point of Olympics for No. 97. That’s a record for first two games of Olympics. And good golly this is something to watch.
Content manager Flo hockey Chris Peters @chrismpeters
No play is dead if Macklin Celebrini has breath in his lungs. That forecheck was unreal.
Vancouver hockey commentator Jason Brough 🙁 @SadClubCommish
That Celebrini forecheck had more energy in it than the entire Canucks season.
Oilers fan Denny Sawchuk 🇨🇦 @Denny_Sawchuk
So 6 points in 2 games for 97… is that any good?
Chris Pronger @chrispronger
And just like that the Canadian pressure and pace is unrelenting and they make it 5-1. Logan Thompson has been excellent as well. Made some excellent stops before that last goal
The Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin @MLarkinHockey
Most impressive in these first two Canada games isn’t just the results. It’s the total absence of cruise control. We’re seeing non stop intensity and urgency on top of the dominance.
The Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco @ADiMarco25
Celebrini-McDavid-MacKinnon has the makings of the best line in Olympic history – and I don’t think that’s hyperbole. Shifting Suzuki to C between Hagel and Wilson as the “3rd” line is a no brainer. Marner-Crosby-Stone is more than good enough to be the 2nd line.
Kevin Fiala of the Swiss team sustains injury within the last two minutes of game time and is taken off the ice on a stretcher. pic.twitter.com/wk3PfoLZqA
TSN @TSN_Sports
Switzerland’s Kevin Fiala has been stretchered off the ice at the end of the third period against Canada.
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Fiala taken out on a stretcher after a collision with Wilson. The whole Canadian bench came out to tap their stick as Fiala was taken out in a show of support.
Los Angeles hockey commentator Dennis Bernstein @DennisTFP
Difficult watch as Kevin Fiala gets leaves ice on stretcher late 3rd period, appears to be significant leg injury after contact with Tom Wilson. 🙏
The Athletic’s James Mirtle @mirtle
Canada wins its group and that plus 9 goal differential puts some pressure on Team USA against Denmark tomorrow. Getting first overall going to have some value – potentially a lot depending on what happens tomorrow between Sweden and Slovakia.
Edmonton sports radio commentator Brenden Escott @BrendenEscott
Takeaways from 🇨🇦 vs 🇨🇭 (5-1 CAN)…
🏒 McDavid with three more points. Six in six periods.
🏒 Celebrini has no problem playing with the two best players in the world on that line with MacKinnon.
🏒 Thompson was good in net when called upon. Back to Binnington vs France though, no doubt.
🏒 Scary situation with Fiala. That’s heartbreaking no matter whose side you’re on.
NHL insider Bob Stauffer of Oilers Now @Bob_Stauffer
The last time NHL players participated in the Winter Olympics..
Drew Doughty led a dominant 2014 Team Canada squad in scoring with 4-2-6 in 6 GP as Canada claimed Gold.
The Edmonton 0ilers’ Connor McDavid has 6 points (1-5-6)… in Canada’s opening two games!
The Athletic’s Mark Lazerus
Nico Hischier said there was clearly no intent to injure from Tom Wilson on Kevin Fiala.
“Stuff like that is hard to watch,” Hischier said.
David Staples, The Cult of Hockey
The final Grade A shots were close 15 to 14 for Canada, but when it came to the subset of most dangerous 5-alarm shots, Canada has 13 to 6 for Switzerland.
Logan Thompson had a far more challenging night in net than did Jordan Binnington against Czechia, but came up big for Canada repeatedly, showing his enormous quality in net.
Canada kept with a stacked top line of McDavid, MacKinnon and Celebrini in the final half of the game, and that line was utterly dynamic, likely the most dangerous line I’ve ever seen in hockey.
Canada has enough top forwards it can afford to put so much talent on one line. I suspect we’ll see the trio regularly.
On defence, the Top 4 are solid with Makar and Devon Toews, Harley and Doughty, but after that it’s still not sorted on the bottom-pairing, with Travis Sanheim showing well enough in limited minutes, making one important and gutsy shot block in the game.
Team Canada’s super power missing at Four Nations, now on full display at Winter Olympics
