Thomas Chabot nearly had a wraparound goal from the back of the net. Anthony Stolarz couldn't get across the crease. Instead of jamming the puck in the net, Chabot passes it through the crease and the play is dead.

The Senators have doubled up on the Leafs in shots (20-10) but that doesn't matter given how Anthony Stolarz is playing. His ability to see pucks through traffic and use his size to not extend himself is clearly elite. Right now, it feels like Leafs have the kind of goaltending they haven't had in a generation.

Halfway through the second period and the Maple Leafs still hold a two-goal lead. Toronto's defense is preventing high danger chances for Ottawa, despite the Senators outshooting the Maple Leafs 20-10 for the game.
The legend James Hetfield, Metallica's lead vocalist, is at the Leafs game tonight. Metallica with two shows in Toronto this week.

Anthony Stolarz has had enough of Ridly Greig. Both men were going at it before the goalie levelled Greig as the Sens power play expired. Scotiabank Arena showed Stolarz on the jumbotron much to the delight of Leafs fans.
Stolarz and Greig both penalized.

The second period begins from Scotiabank Arena.
Frustrations are already boiling over as evidenced by Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson and Shane Pinto late in the first. But if they’re not too careful, they open themselves up to power-play trouble. And they cannot afford to fall into it anymore.

This morning Leafs coach Craig Berube called on his second line to tilt the ice — "I need that line to have more O-zone possession time," he said — and the Pontus Holmberg-John Tavares-William Nylander line responded in a big way over the opening 20 minutes of Game 2.
Not only were they on the ice for the game's opening goal, but they finished with a 7-0 advantage in even-strength shot attempts.

Another rowdy crowd tonight for Game 2.
The Ottawa Senators need some kind of shock to their system before they go out for the second period.
They outshot the Leafs in the first, again. But only mustered one high-danger chance, again. Leafs imposed themselves in front of the Sens net and it's made all the difference.

Pretty well a perfect first period for the Leafs in Game 2.
Ottawa has won only four games all season when trailing after one. The Leafs are 26-3-0 in this situation.
