The Senators had a great first period, outshooting and outhitting the Leafs while taking a lead. A much different story in the second period. Sens have just one shot on target for the entire second period.

William Nylander takes an extended shift and nearly scores the go-ahead goal. Linus Ullmark denies Nylander's wrist shot.
Nylander has an assist tonight and looks a lot more active.
Knies' ability to overpower Artem Zub en route to a breakaway reminded me of an anecdote Knies shared with me back in 2023 at the University of Minnesota: Knies was wrestling with Shane Doan, a mountain of a man, a few years previous and Doan had to stop to practically shout at Knies.
“You don’t understand how strong you are.”
With every shift during these playoffs, Leafs fans are starting to see just how strong Knies is, and can become.
A breakdown in communication led to that Matthew Knies goal. Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub are the Sens’ top pairing and most trusted in defensive situations. But somehow they let Matthew Knies take advantage of the gap between both defencemen. Sanderson failed to close in on Knies, while Zub struggled to close down Knies before he raced down the ice.
Not only did Matthew Knies go on an unbelievable solo rush to tie the score 2-2, he tucked that puck under the crossbar to complete a 46-second shift spent mostly in his defensive zone. The Leafs winger was clocked at more than 35 kilometres per hour while racing down the ice.
