While the Panthers had more shot volume in the first period, the Leafs enjoyed the more dangerous looks. High danger chances were 7-3 for Toronto and included two breakaways, plus an odd-man rush down the wing.
Earlier this week, Florida coach Paul Maurice said they made peace with the Leafs ability to spring free: "They’re in alone on us a bunch of times. I don’t think we’re getting rid of all of it. That’s why Sergei (Bobrovsky) is what he is to us, that’s how important he is. To completely prevent it we would have to completely change the way we play and we’re a little far down the road for that.”
