After a 4-3 loss to the Blackhawks, the Kings are now 31-18-8. Los Angeles led 3-2 until 31 seconds remained, when Chicago tied it up and eventually won in the shootout.
The Kings were favored on the puck line and the total was set at 6 goals. The combined 7 goals pushed the game over the total.
Alex Laferriere continued his strong start to the season, scoring his 7th and 8th goals in the Kings’ 4-3 loss to the Blackhawks. Phillip Danault added his first goal of the year, finding the net for the third time in the game.
Kevin Fiala picked up two assists, bringing his season total to 5. The Kings fired 40 shots on goal and scored their first goal on a power play, with Laferriere’s 7th of the season.
Defensively, the Kings will be looking to bounce back after allowing three goals in the 3rd period against the Blackhawks, including the game-tying goal with just 31 seconds left. Goalie Darcy Kuemper finished with 18 saves and a save percentage of 85.7%.
Dallas fell to 37-19-2 after a 4-2 loss to the Panthers. The Stars trailed 2-0 before rallying to tie it, but Florida scored twice more to seal the game. Going into the matchup, the total was set at 6.5 goals, and the combined score of 6 came up just short. Dallas, as the underdog on the puck line, failed to cover.
All of the Stars’ scoring came in the second period. Evgenii Dadonov put them on the board at 8:38, and Matt Duchene followed up at 8:04 to tie the game. The Panthers regained the lead with 17:28 left in the third and added an empty-net goal with 1:00 remaining.
Dallas took 25 shots on goal in their 4-2 loss to the Panthers but only found the net twice. Evgenii Dadonov scored his second goal of the season on a power play, while Matt Duchene added his seventh goal. Duchene also picked up his eighth assist on Dadonov’s goal.
The Stars were held scoreless in the first period before getting on the board at the 8:38 mark of the second. Dallas had 32 giveaways in the game.
Defensively, the Stars gave up the first goal at 5:15 in the first period and another at 8:47 in the second, but they had tied the game at 2-2. However, they allowed two more goals in the third, including one at 2:32 and an empty-netter at 19:00. Casey DeSmith made 21 saves with an 87.5% save percentage. The Stars’ defense also recorded 5 takeaways and 26 hits.
If you’re looking for a moneyline pick, my choice is the Stars to take down the Kings at home. With the moneyline currently at -139, I’m placing my bet on the Stars straight-up.
When it comes to my suggested pick for the puck line, I’d advise taking the Kings to cover. Even in the event of a Stars victory, this matchup is likely to remain closely contested, and the Kings should cover the puck line.
With an over/under line sitting at 5.5 goals, we like this game to stay under that mark and recommend getting a bet down on the UNDER.
