The Lightning continue their mid-west road trip as they take on the NHL’s newest club, the Utah Mammoth Hockey Club and old friend, Mikhail Sergachev. Utah is fighting for a playoff spot in their first season in Salt Lake City as they are currently four points behind the second wildcard team in the west, the St. Louis Blues. Clayton Keller is leading the way with 76 points (24 goals, 52 assists) while Sergy has 45 points (13 goals, 32 assists). He recently crested the 300-point mark in his career and sits at 302.
As for the Lightning. Their win against Dallas ran their winning streak to three games and bumped their road record to 16-15-3. They’ve needed these wins to keep pace with Toronto, who is also riding a three-game winning streak, and Florida, who remains in first place with a two-point advantage over the Bolts (although Tampa Bay does have a game in hand).
Ryan McDonagh, who took a puck to the face at the end of regulation in Dallas, has an unknown status for the game. Zemgus Girgernsons also took a couple of big hits and was in the locker room for a short period of time before returning to action against the Stars.
