LEWISTON, Maine (WGME) — It was an epic hockey showdown Friday night at the Lewiston Colisee.
The Lewiston Police Department took on the Boston Fire Department in a charity hockey matchup.
More than just hockey, the night was also about healing, with some of the proceeds going to the Maine Resiliency Center, which was established after the mass shooting that killed 18 people in Lewiston.
There was a big surprise too.
Kyle Secor, who was shot and badly injured, actually played in the game.
He was a last-minute addition.
The former hockey player was wearing a borrowed jersey and is still recovering from his injuries, but it was an inspiration for fans to see Secor back on home ice.
"He still wears his boot, but he put his skates on tonight, and he scored a goal, and he's skating like lightning out there," hockey fan Sonny Begin said.
That's right, he scored a goal!
But in the end, the Boston Fire Department took home the bragging rights, defeating the Lewiston Police Department.
