The LA Kings (3-1-2) wrap up their season-opening seven-game road trip with a visit to T-Mobile Arena to face the Vegas Golden Knights (3-2-1) on Tuesday night. This late-night Pacific Division showdown caps off the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy, with puck drop set for 11:00 PM ET on ESPN.
The latest Kings vs Golden Knights odds favor the home team, with the over/under now set at 5.5. We have locked in a wager on the game total for tonight’s action.
Here is our Kings vs Golden Knights prediction for Tuesday’s NHL Frozen Frenzy game.
While both teams boast snipers, I’m leaning towards the under 6 goals (-140) in this matchup. The Kings have tightened up defensively in their last two games, allowing just two goals total. Vegas, despite their offensive firepower, has struggled to find the back of the net consistently during their three-game losing streak.
David Rittich is expected to start for the Kings, and he’s been solid in his last two outings, posting a 2.00 GAA. The Golden Knights will counter with Ilya Samsonov, who has a .921 save percentage in his first two starts with VGK. Moreover, Samsonov was 13-4 on home ice last season.

Both teams will be eager to clean up their defensive play, and with the late start time potentially impacting scoring, I see this as a lower-scoring affair than the oddsmakers predict. The Kings’ fatigue from their long road trip could also play a factor, as they may opt for a more conservative game plan.
These two teams played twice at T-Mobile Arena last season, with each game falling under the total. LA is on a remarkable 52-36 run to the “Under” over the past several years. I expect them to try to slow this game down, take the crowd out of it, and cash the under for bettors in the process.
This line has dropped from 6 to 5.5 at most sportsbooks, which indicates where the big money is going. However, DraftKings still has 6 available in the alternative total options at -140. I think this is still a fair price, but I wouldn’t play below -150.
LA-VGK Pick:
The Golden Knights enter this matchup as the favorites, with the moneyline set at -128. This means that a $128 bet on Vegas would yield a $100 profit if they emerge victorious. On the flip side, the Kings are underdogs at +107, meaning a $100 bet would net a $107 profit if they pull off the upset.
The puck line is set at -1.5 for the Golden Knights (+180) and +1.5 for the Kings (-210). A bet on the Knights -1.5 would require them to win by two or more goals, while a Kings +1.5 bet would cash if they either win outright or lose by a single goal.
The over/under for total goals scored is set at 5.5, with the over at -125 and the under at +105. This suggests oddsmakers expect a low-scoring battle.

Injuries could play a significant role in this matchup, particularly for the Kings. They’ll be without key defenseman Drew Doughty and promising winger Arthur Kaliyev, both of whom are on injured reserve. Backup goaltender Darcy Kuemper is also questionable with a lower-body injury.
The Golden Knights are missing some depth pieces but could welcome back top-six center William Karlsson, who is questionable after missing the last game with an undisclosed injury. Winger Victor Olofsson remains out with a lower-body issue.
The absence of the offensive-minded Doughty on the Kings’ blue line and potentially Karlsson from Vegas’ forward group could contribute to a tighter, more defensive-minded game from both sides.
