Ak Bars Kazan forward Nikita Dynyak is making hockey headlines on Monday for an unusual incident during a KHL game. During play, Dynyak’s cell phone fell out of his equipment and onto the ice. The bizarre moment occurred mid-game, prompting Avangard head coach Guy Boucher to request an illegal equipment penalty. However, the referees decided against it and returned it to Dynyak after locating its owner.

The unexpected appearance of a cell phone on the playing surface has fans unsure of what to say. It’s one of the strangest things to happen in hockey for some time and social media began quickly buzzing about the incident.
Several fans speculated about how the phone ended up in Dynyak’s possession during the game. Some suggested he may have forgotten to leave it in the locker room, while others wondered if he had it on him because of a personal emergency. The hope is that he had a better excuse than just wanting to have his phone with him. If that’s the case, it looks extremely unprofessional.
One online comment speculated, “Maybe he was using it during intermission and forgot to put it away, or it slipped into his pants unknowingly.” Others believed Dynyak might have been waiting for urgent updates regarding a family or medical situation.
Regardless of the circumstances, the incident has created some hilarious comments online and sparked a debate about what players prioritize these days. This brings the idea of too much screen time to a whole new level.
The KHL has yet to release an official statement addressing whether further action will be taken.
