GRAND FORKS — Jackson Blake is on the board in the NHL.
The former UND star scored his first NHL goal Tuesday night for the Carolina Hurricanes against the New Jersey Devils.

Blake deflected a point shot by defenseman Dmitry Orlov past Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom with 9:44 left in the third period.
Blake celebrated the goal along the wall with his teammates.

The goal came in Blake’s third NHL game.
Blake played one NHL game last spring after signing with Carolina at the end of his sophomore season. He has played two games this season.
Blake starred in Grand Forks for two years.
He won the National Collegiate Hockey Conference’s Rookie of the Year award as a freshman, tallying 42 points in 39 games. Blake backed that up with an even more impressive sophomore season, tallying 60 points in 40 games and earning the NCHC’s Player of the Year honor.
Blake was one of three Hobey Baker Award Hat Trick finalists.

Boston University’s Macklin Celebrini won the award.
The Hurricanes selected Blake in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
