The New York Islanders (23-20-7) are back in action tonight when they face the Tampa Bay Lightning (27-20-3) indie Amalie Arena on Saturday night. The Islanders bring with them a six-game win streak to boot. Meanwhile, the Lightning look to regain their playoff spot after the Boston Bruins passed them with their rousing victory over the New York Rangers.
It’s the first of three matchups between the Islanders and the Lightning this season. The teams famously battled in consecutive Conference Finals in 2020 and 2021, with the Bolts coming out on top on both occasions.
Ilya Sorokin gets the nod for the Islanders in net. Anthony Duclair is out with an illness that’s making its rounds throughout the entirety of the NHL. Maxim Tsyplakov slides back up to Brock Nelson’s wing while Pierre Engvall draws back in. Adam Boqvist makes his Islanders debut, skating alongside Scott Mayfield.
