The first half of the 2024-25 NHL season is in the books, and if it’s any indication, we’re primed for an exciting final couple of months.
For one, the race of the Stanley Cup appears wide open. On a points basis, the Jets and Capitals lead the way in the Western Conference and Eastern Conference, respectively. But a number of uber-talented teams loom behind them, like Connor McDavid’s Oilers and the Panthers, seeking to defend their title.
As the league hits the reset button after the first half, its two-week hiatus is actually anything but: The 4 Nation Face-Off replaces the traditional All-Star Game, offering a best-on-best international hockey competition.
The Sporting News has everything that you need to know about the upcoming NHL schedule.
No, there is not an NHL game on today. The league resumes regular-season play with a 14-game slate on Saturday, Feb. 22.
This functions as the NHL’s typical All-Star Break; however, in lieu of an All-Star Game, the league is hosting the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off. NHL players will compete in a round-robin style tournament representing four countries: Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Play begins on Wednesday, Feb. 12 and concludes on Thursday, Feb. 20.
The two games played on Sunday — Washington vs. Utah and Montreal vs. Tampa Bay — represented the final regular season games before the break.
In the U.S., ABC, ESPN, and TNT will each broadcast multiple games during the 4 Nations Face-Off. ESPN will have exclusive coverage of the championship game, which is set for Thursday, Feb. 20.
Sportsnet will carry all seven matches in the 4 Nations Face-Off live on broadcast television in Canada.
Fans in the U.S. looking to stream the games have several options. Games on TNT can be streamed live with Sling, which is the home for live sports.
Meanwhile, games on ABC and ESPN can be streamed on ESPN+ as well as Fubo, which offers a free trial, so you can try before you buy.
For a limited time, you can get your first month of Fubo for as low as $59.99, a $25 savings. Stream ESPN, ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and 200+ top channels of live TV and sports without cable. (Participating plans only. Taxes and fees may apply.)
Listen to games throughout the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off live with SiriusXM on channel 91, NHL Network Radio.
