Country music is the lifeblood of Whiskey Riff, and we pride ourselves on standing firmly in the corner of the independent artists, and those few in the mainstream still doing it the right way. Whether it’s Waylon, Willie and legends of the past, or the superstars of today like Zach Bryan, our finger is always on the pulse of true country music. From Texas to Tennessee, Appalachia to Bakersfield, Whiskey Riff is THE unapologetic voice of the country music fan.
A RIFF on what makes the great outdoors…great.
“Country” is more than just a steel guitar. It’s a lifestyle, a mindset, and a way to speak your mind and not apologize for it. Whiskey Riff is that lifestyle.
On ‘Whiskey Riff Raff’ buckle up for an unfiltered and unapologetic take on country music, life, sports, and all the craziness that comes with it. Laugh with us. Rant with us. Drink with us.
If you’re going to pick a fight with somebody, you better make sure they aren’t a current or former hockey player.
Every once in a while, a viral video hits the internet that showcases how pent-up rage and golf courses don’t mix. Like at all. I know golf is supposed to be a relaxing activity that gets you outdoors and spending time with friends… but sometimes there’s nothing that angers you more than not being able to make the little white ball go where you want it to.
There are also a lot of things that can trigger someone out on the golf course. If someone brings figurative, mental baggage to the course, there’s a good chance that baggage is going to be unpacked at some point. Slow play, or holding up other groups, is one of those things that can really get the blood boiling for golfers. Especially if you’re too hammered to put the ball on the tee…
That appears to be the triggering event in this video out of Canada. Some golfers were apparently taking their precious time to get through their round, and the group behind them may or may not have asked politely (I’ve got a feeling it wasn’t polite) for them to speed things up, or let them play through. At one point you hear one of the men say:
“You can’t even stand up to tee your ball up, man”
And when the camera pans over, he’s struggling pretty hard to get it on the tee.
For some reason, being called out empowered a man in a blue-patterned shirt to pick a fight… with the biggest guy in the group behind him. You’ll see in the video that the guy was yelling and clapping to get himself fired up for battle, and that really ended up working out for him in the end.
That’s sarcasm by the way.
Because not longer after he clapped and yelled, he ran at the large man who some on the internet have identified as former NHL center Nick Tarnasky, who played over 200 games in the NHL and had stints with the Panthers, Predators and the Lightning. It’s never wise to pick a fight, but it’s especially stupid to try and trade punches with someone who sort of did that for a living at one point.
You see the hockey style fighting come back to Tarnasky immediately (he grabs the guy’s shirt like he used to grab a jersey while out on the ice), and he even throws the attacking guy around multiple times. One time, he even throws the idiot into a nearby pond. It’s truly a wild video, and can be viewed at this link.
The internet has become somewhat obsessed with the fight video, and there are tons of comments out there on social media like these:
“Why do some guys insist on writing checks with their mouth that their bodies can NOT cash?”
“That guy was on something. He took K.O. hits and kept coming back for more.”
“Why do guys pick fights that don’t know how to fight? Remarkable phenomenon.”
“The most hockey fight I’ve ever seen on the golf course.”
“Love that he just flung that clown at the end.”
And in great news, there’s an even longer version of the video that’s also surfaced. Because that’s how the internet works… a clip goes viral, and the virality uncovers an unedited and uncut version.
