It’s a great time to be a Washington Capitals fan and, more specifically, an Alex Ovechkin fan. The star left winger is skating towards history with 891 goals, as of April 1, putting him just four away from setting the NHL’s record for most career goals. Wayne Gretzky currently holds the 894-goal record, which he set in 1994.

If you’re looking to watch the Capitals’ upcoming games and witness Ovechkin set the record, read on. Below is a guide to the best way to stream Washington Capitals games without cable.
The Washington Capitals’ remaining regular-season games are spread out across TNT, ESPN, and regional sports networks (RSNs). If you don’t have cable, the best streaming service to watch all the remaining games online is DirecTV Stream.
DirecTV Stream’s Choice package carries TNT and ESPN, and it offers some of the best RSN coverage of any cable streaming solution. This makes it a standout among other popular live TV streaming services like Hulu + Live TV (limited RSN coverage), Fubo (no TNT), and Sling (limited RSN coverage).
The Choice package starts with a five-day free trial and costs $89.99 for your first three months of service. After that introductory period, the price increases to $114.99 a month. It’s pricey, but it’s also very comprehensive. The plan carries over 125 cable channels, including major networks, specialty sports channels, and RSNs. You can also access your DirecTV Stream subscription on any streaming device, making it easy to keep up with Capitals games from anywhere.
The Washington Capitals have eight more games in their 2025 NHL regular season schedule. Ovechkin could break Gretzky’s record in any of these, although he’s most likely to do so in the April 10, 12, or 13 game.
