BOSTON — After a tough loss at home, the Detroit Red Wings hope to get back on the winning track against an Original Six rival on Tuesday night as they take on the Boston Bruins.
The Red Wings head up to New England to begin a quick two-game road trip. They are hoping to find some better luck after a couple of tough results on home ice. Following a key win over the Calgary Flames, Detroit’s offense was unable to keep up with the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks, losing another back-and-forth game, this time in overtime, to the Canucks on Sunday.
The team also lost goaltender Cam Talbot in the defeat, leading the team to call up Sebastian Cossa from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. As they start to dive into the month of December, the Red Wings are sixth in the Atlantic Division, eight points back of the first-place Florida Panthers.
The Bruins are starting to find their groove after a tough start to the season. Following the firing of former Jack Adams winner Jim Montgomery, Boston has been playing much better under interim head coach Joe Sacco. Following a 6-3 win over the rival Montreal Canadiens on Sunday, the B’s have won four of their past six games, and have climbed up to third in the division, four points back of the Panthers.
This is the second of three meetings this season between the Bruins and Wings. Boston won the first matchup at LCA last month.
