Penn State hockey and Boston U have taken different paths throughout the season, but both find themselves in the 2025 Frozen Four and are in others’ way from a National Championship Game appearance.
Boston University is making its 25th Frozen Four appearance by winning the Toledo regional. It defeated Ohio State in the first round, 8-3, after scoring five goals in the third period after the game was tied when the second period ended, and Cornell with a 3-2 overtime win.
The Nittany Lions are making their first NCAA tournament appearance, and they are making the most of it by making the Frozen Four. They dominated the Allentown regionals’ No. 1 seed, Maine, 5-1, and defeated UConn, 3-2, in overtime, exactly how their opponent, Boston U, clinched its Frozen Four spot.
Boston University hockey hasn’t won in a long time and hopes to return to glory. At the same time, Penn State seeks to continue its improbable run and eventually bring home the program’s first title in history.

The Frozen Four will be live on ESPN2 on April 10 at 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET.
