DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas Stars look to stay alive in the NHL Playoffs as they host the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals today, May 29, at 8 p.m. Eastern (7 p.m. Central, 6 p.m. Mountain).
The game will be broadcast on ESPN. Fans who’ve cut the cord on cable can stream the matchup on Fubo (free trial), DirecTV (free trial), Sling (promotional offers) or ESPN+.
The Oilers took a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, defeating the Stars at home, 4-1, on Tuesday. Leon Draisaitl and Corey Perry each had a power-play goal and an assist, while goalie Stuart Skinner continued to impress, finishing with 28 saves in the victory.
“How we all played as a team was fantastic and shows a lot of courage, the way that guys are blocking shots,” Skinner told the Associated Press after the game. “For myself, it definitely felt good out there. I’m just trying to give my team the best chance that I possibly can every night.”
Jason Robertson scored the only goal for the Stars, who now face the very real possibility of being eliminated in the West final by the Oilers for the second straight season.
“It’s time to reset again, it’s not over until somebody wins four games,” said Stars forward Mikko Rantanen.
The winner of this series moves on to face the Florida Panthers, who advanced to their third straight Stanley Cup Finals by beating the Carolina Hurricanes in the East final, four games to one, on Wednesday night.
Edmonton is seeking redemption after losing last year’s Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers in seven games. The team finished third in the Pacific Division with a 48-29-5 record. The Oilers began the postseason by defeating the Los Angeles Kings in six games in the first round, then eliminating the Vegas Golden Knights in five games in the semifinals.
Edmonton has averaged 3.93 goals in the playoffs — tops among the four remaining teams. On the other end, the team has pitched three shutouts this postseason.

Dallas finished the regular season with a 50-26-6, good for second place in the Central Division. Their road back to the West final started with a thrilling seven-game series against the Colorado Avalanche. The Stars then took care of the No. 1 seed Winnipeg Jets in six games in the next round.
During the regular season, the Stars were one of the league’s top-scoring teams, averaging 3.35 goals per game, but have only scored 2.1 goals per game in their last 10 outings. Dallas ranked fourth in save percentage during the regular season at 91 percent — a figure they’ve maintained in the playoffs.
The Stars were dominant at home, posting a 28-10-3 record at American Airlines Center during the regular season.
Leon Draisaitl: Edmonton’s center led the league during the regular season with 52 goals, adding 54 assists for 106 points— third-most in the NHL. He has scored seven goals in 15 postseason games.

Stuart Skinner: The Oilers’ goalie enters Game 5 with a postseason save percentage of 91, allowing 22 goals on 244 shots against.

Matt Duchene: The 16-year veteran finished the regular season with 82 points (30 goals, 52 assists), but his postseason +/- rating of minus-15 is the worst on the club.
