Park Rapids’ Sawyer Torkelson played in 10 games as a goaltender for two North American Tier III Hockey League (NA3HL) teams this winter.
Torkelson played in one game for the Rochester Grizzlies and nine games for the Mason City Toros in this Tier III junior hockey league, which is sanctioned by USA Hockey and has teams in 18 states.

In his lone appearance for Rochester, Torkelson allowed two goals and made 17 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to St. Louis on Sept. 21.
At Mason City, Torkelson posted a 3-3-2 record, allowing 38 goals and making 346 saves. Torkelson allowed 4.33 goals a game while posting a .901 save percentage.
Torkelson allowed five goals and had 32 saves in a 6-3 loss to Granity City on Nov. 29, gave up two goals and made 41 saves in a 5-2 win over Willmar on Dec. 7 and allowed a goal and had 30 saves in a 2-1 win over Bozeman on Dec. 16.
After allowing four goals and making 58 saves in a 5-4 overtime win over Granite City on Jan. 31, Torkelson gave up six goals and had 34 saves in a 6-1 loss to Minnesota Moose on Feb. 2, gave up five goals and had 32 saves in a 5-4 overtime loss to Minnesota Wilderness on Feb. 25 and allowed seven goals and made 63 saves in a 7-1 loss to Granite City on Feb. 23.
Torkelson made two other appearances for Mason City, giving up four goals and making 35 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Alexandria on March 1 and allowing four goals and making 21 saves in an 8-2 loss to Minneota Wilderness on March 7.
Mason City finished with a 17-23-4 record and 41 points. The Helena Bighorns went 41-4-1 and the Louisiana Drillers went 40-3-3 as both teams scored 84 points to top the league during the regular season.
