Not much separated the Alexandria Blizzard and the Granite City Lumberjacks in their games on Friday and Saturday. Both games were decided by one goal as Granite City won 2-1 in Alexandria and 4-3 in Sauk Rapids on Saturday.
Early first period goals by Parker Comstock and Brayden Willis gave the Lumberjacks a 2-0 lead over the Blizzard.

A Kaden Roness goal cut the Blizzard’s lead down to one with 6:41 left in the first frame. Neither team scored from then on out as the Lumberjacks (24-6-2-2, 52 points) held on to win 2-1 on Jan. 17, 2025.
The Blizzard (20-13-1, 41 points) had a 29-23 shot on goal advantage in Friday’s game.
Granite City jumped out to a 1-0 on Saturday with a Teagan Dodge 58 seconds into the game. Nearly 10 minutes later, a TJ Lepisto goal pushed Granite City’s lead to 2-0.
A Caleb Waller goal with 5:32 left in the first period cut the Blizzard’s deficit to 2-1, but a Finn Greeley goal with 4:02 left in the first period extended the Lumberjacks’ lead to 3-1.
Eli Fletcher scored his 22nd goal of the season with 18:36 left in the second period to cut the Blizzard’s deficit to 3-2.
A Gavin Forrest goal with 11:50 left in the third period gave the Lumberjacks a 4-2 lead.
Alexandria’s Ashton Collings scored with 44 seconds left to cut its deficit down to one goal, but Granite City came out on top 4-3.

Granite City had a 31-30 shot on goal advantage in Saturday’s game.
The Blizzard host the Willmar WarHawks (17-16, 34 points) at 7:10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, and the Minnesota Moose (17-15-3, 37 points) at 7:10 p.m. on Saturday. The Blizzard then play at the Moose at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
