Nearly 21 million viewers tuned in to NBCUniversal’s coverage of the USA-Canada men’s Olympic hockey gold medal game at the 2026 Winter Olympics, with viewership peaking at 26 million during the game-winning overtime goal.
The audience made the gold medal game the most-watched sporting event in U.S. TV history with a start time before 9 a.m. Eastern.
Team USA’s thrilling 2-1 overtime victory, its first Olympic men’s hockey gold since the 1980 Mircale on Ice, averaged 18.6 million live viewers on NBC and Peacock and rose to 20.7 million with replays on additional networks.
NBCSports said the peak audience and strong streaming numbers highlight the enduring appeal of Olympic hockey and the growing reach of multi-platform coverage.
