KENNEWICK, Wash. – The 2025 edition of the Guns and Hoses charity hockey game is set for Saturday, February 22. This community event promises a spirited competition between local law enforcement and fire crews.
The sixth edition of Guns and Hoses will take place before the Tri-City Americans face off against Spokane. This tradition, which began in 2016, was inspired by similar games across the country.
Law enforcement teams are raising money for the Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Fund, while fire crews are supporting the Chaplain Services Network.
Connor Overson, an intern with BCFD4 said the CSN is very important to their work. “Really helps us out, for dealing with, the victims that we have to help. So it’s really supporting us and our community. It’s a great program and great people,” he said.
The police team won the first two games before a hiatus. Since returning, they secured a third consecutive win, but the fire team has claimed victory in the last two games. Both teams are practicing hard, with the fire crew aiming for a third win, although winning isn’t the primary goal.
Overson emphasized the event’s purpose, saying, “Put on a great show. So, just really make sure have fun out there and raise money for the charities.”
Despite the friendly nature, competition is heating up. “Hands down we definitely want the bragging rights. I know we won, two years, two years in a row now. So we definitely want to continue that trend,” Overson added.
Tickets for the game and contributions to the charities can be made through a specific link available or the Police versus Fire social media pages.
