NFL Thanksgiving
Last Updated: November 27, 2024 12:20 PM EST • 2 min 36 sec read. Twitter link Google News Link
The Colorado Avalanche won’t be in a festive mood when they close out their pre-Thanksgiving schedule tonight at Ball Arena in Denver against the Vegas Golden Knights (10 p.m. ET, TNT).
Colorado is coming off an 8-2 thumping by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, just the Avs’ second loss in their last eight games.
Our Golden Knights vs. Avalanche predictions and best bets anticipate a bounceback effort from Nathan MacKinnon and company tonight, but will it be enough to topple the high-scoring Golden Knights?

Whenever Colorado is coming off a humiliating loss – like Monday’s 8-2 defeat in Tampa – it typically means an avalanche of offense is on its way. The Avs have filled the net following lopsided losses over the past 13 months, scoring at least three goals in each of their last 12 games following a loss by 3+ and potting at least four in 10 of them.
That makes it tempting to back Colorado on the moneyline or puck line tonight, especially against a Vegas squad that is concluding a five-game road trip and could be looking ahead to getting home for Thanksgiving.
However, the Golden Knights appear poised for a strong offensive night of their own after rallying from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Flyers 5-4 in a shootout Monday. Vegas has consistently lit the lamp all year on the road, scoring three or more in 10 of 12 games away from Sin City.
With Colorado motivated to bounce back and both Avalanche goalies in poor form (Justus Annunen has been pulled in two of his last three starts, and Alexandar Georgiev has been beaten on seven of the last 48 shots he’s faced), I love the chances of both teams scoring at least three goals tonight in the Mile High City.

If Colorado’s offense responds tonight like it has following lopsided losses in the past, we can expect that Rantanen and MacKinnon will be in the middle of it. Both snipers have put up 17 points in the Avs’ 11 games this month, and they should be motivated to atone for their line’s minus-3 performance Monday against the Lightning.
So, which of Colorado’s two superstar forwards will do the finishing tonight? All signs point towards Rantanen, whose 10 goals in November are tied for the league lead during that span.
Meanwhile, while MacKinnon has racked up 15 assists this month, he’s gone goalless in eight straight games and has tallied just twice in his last 13. As an added bonus, Rantanen’s anytime goal pays slightly more than MacKinnon (+125) at Betway.
