Kings – Quinton Byfield: Byfield had a multi-point game when these teams met in Carolina last season and is riding a three-game point streak against the Hurricanes, including an assist in the game earlier this season in Los Angeles. Byfield scored the game-winning goal yesterday afternoon in Philadelphia, his tenth goal of the season, as he moved into third on the team with 29 points this season.
Hurricanes – Jordan Staal: Staal led the Hurricanes with two goals in the first meeting of the season between the two teams, as he scored twice in the first period of a 4-3 overtime victory at Crypto.com Arena. Staal, Carolina’s captain, is one of eight active players with at least 1,300 NHL games played, with Kings captain Anze Kopitar also in that group.
