Canadiens forward lost mother to cancer earlier this year
Brendan Gallagher shared a heartfelt jersey swap with a fan on Wednesday.
The Montreal Canadiens forward met and swapped jerseys with a fan who offered to return his Hockey Fights Cancer jersey after she learned of Gallagher’s mother passing from cancer earlier this year.
When Brendan Gallagher's mom passed away earlier this year, a kind @CanadiensMTL fan offered to return his old Hockey Fights Cancer jersey from 2022 in her memory.

On March 8, Gallagher’s mother, Della, died of brain cancer after a three-year battle.
Lucie Lachance took to X, offering to give Gallagher back his 2022 Hockey Fights Cancer jersey that she purchased from the Canadiens Children’s Foundation auction.
That is incredibly kind of you, thoughtful and really appreciated!! How about a jersey swap on the ice April 16th!
The jersey had “I fight for: Mom” written on the bottom.
Gallagher and Lachance shared a big hug as they met on the ice after the Canadiens final home game of the regular season at Bell Centre.
The veteran forward signed and gifted Lachance his game-used jersey. The Canadiens fan then presented Gallagher with a floral box that contained his Hockey Fights Cancer jersey.
The two embraced one final time as “Gally” chants rang down from the stands.
