Fresh off a run to the NCAA Frozen Four for the first time in school history, Penn State men’s ice hockey is looking to make a return trip to compete for a national championship. The 2025-26 season will feature another season full of challenges within Big Ten play and will drop the puck for the first time against nationally ranked Arizona State. Penn State hockey will also take the ice in Beaver Stadium for the first time for what will be the largest attendance ever for a Penn State men’s ice hockey game.
Guy Gadowsky enters his 13th season at the helm of the program, and he has been a major factor in the continued rise of the Penn State program. Gadowsky owns a career coaching record at Penn State of 231-200-31 as he has guided the program through the transition from being an independent hockey program to a fully-powered NCAA contender.
Penn State’s roster should be loaded this season with NHL draft picks like sophomore forward Charlie Cerrato (Carolina Hurricanes, 49th overall) and freshman defenseman Jackson Smith (Columbus Blue Jackers, 14th overall) among the most recently drafted players by NHL teams in 2025, and others such as junior forwards Aiden Fink (Nashville Predators, 2023) and Reese Laubach (San Jose Sharks, 2022). Swedish goaltender Kevin Reidler is a transfer from Omaha who also has an NHL future as a 2022 draft pick of the Ottawa Senators.
