Denver paces the four-team field at the 2025 Frozen Four, as the Pioneers eye back-to-back national championships.
The road here hasn’t been easy: Denver defeated Boston College, the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, in its regional final. The game marked a rematch of last year’s Frozen Four championship game.
On Thursday, April 10, Denver will take on Western Michigan in the first of two semifinal matchups. The Broncos — the fourth overall seed — are making their first appearance in the Frozen Four in program history. That’s quite a contrast with the Pioneers, who have won an record 10 national titles.

In the second semifinal, Penn State battles Boston University. The Nittany Lions, like the Broncos, are set for their first Frozen Four after a thrilling overtime victory over UConn in the regional final. Matt DiMarsico netted the golden goal, perhaps the biggest moment in program history.
Boston U is in the Frozen Four for the third consecutive year, though the Terriers lost in the national semifinals each time. They haven’t won the national title since 2009.

The Frozen Four begins with both semifinals Thursday, April 10. The championship game is set for two days later, on the night of Saturday, April 12.
This year’s Frozen Four will be held at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri; it’s the home of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues.
Both the semifinals and championship game at the 2025 Frozen Four will air live on ESPN2. John Buccigross (play-by-paly) will call his 12th Frozen Four alongside Colby Cohen (analyst) and Quint Kessenich (reporter).
