Contracts can be registered starting October 15, 2025, with conditioning allowed from November 15, 2025. Multiple teams, including the Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Detroit Red Wings, have shown interest, though the Oilers have reportedly ruled out signing him.
The NHLPA is advocating for his return, but the league is proceeding cautiously due to public perception and ongoing reviews. Hart, a former Flyers goalie, may start in the AHL to regain form before an NHL comeback.
