The excitement of the Olympics will put a pin in the fantasy hockey season, with an extended break in action to see the top players represent their countries in Milano Cortina — the first official NHL participation in the international tournament since 2014. It means the next “week” of fantasy hockey action actually lasts from Feb. 2 to Feb. 22.
Don’t forget the margins are narrowing. At most you have 30 games remaining from any of your skaters, which means goaltenders probably don’t have more than 25 or 26 maximum (and may have closer to 19 or 20). Take stock of what you have for the stretch run and take advantage of the lull in action to swing some trades.
