Dawson Mercer’s rebound season (8G, 6A) presses on, scoring five goals and six points in his last five games. Jack Hughes (10G, 6A) and Mercer are leading the way in New Jersey. Meanwhile, Jacob Markstrom looks settled after he inked a new two-year extension. Sheldon Keefe and Co. are hoping that continues at home tonight.
The Canadiens are hot, paced by an even hotter Nick Suzuki (3G, 16A) and Cole Caufield (10G, 6A), who are all looking to extend their strong start.
It’s certainly a battle between two young, exciting, up-and-coming teams.
Let’s dive into tonight’s matchup.
— The Devils recorded a 3-0-0 record against Montreal last season and are 5-1-0 against the Habs since 2023-24. The Devils have won four consecutive games against the Habs, and last suffered a loss against Montreal on Jan. 17, 2024.
— Jesper Bratt (4G-3A) and Jack Hughes (3G-3A) led the Devils with seven and six points respectively against Montreal last season.
