Detroit improved to 25-21-5 with a 2-1 win over the Sabres. The Red Wings were favored on the puck line and the total was set at 6.5 goals, but the combined score of 3 fell well short of that mark.
After giving up a goal in the first period, Detroit responded with two goals in the second. Dylan Larkin scored both for the Red Wings, with each coming on the power play.
Detroit’s offense was held scoreless in the first period before Dylan Larkin netted his 6th and 7th goals of the season in the second. Both of Larkin’s goals came on power plays, with the first coming 7:49 into the period and the second at 14:38.
The Red Wings fired 23 shots on goal but struggled with giveaways, tallying 15 in the game. Patrick Kane picked up his 6th assist on Larkin’s first goal, while Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond added their 4th and 10th assists, respectively, on the second.
Detroit’s defense gave up the first goal at 11:39 of the first period but held Buffalo scoreless the rest of the way, leading to a 2-1 victory. Cam Talbot made 31 saves with a 96.9% save percentage, and the Red Wings’ defense added 16 blocks and 4 takeaways.
With a 4-2 loss to the Oilers, the Flames now sit at 25-18-7. Calgary’s defense struggled early, allowing a goal just 20 seconds into the game, and they trailed 2-0 by the end of the first period.
The total for the game was set at 6.5 goals, but the teams combined for 6, falling short of the over. As underdogs on the puck line, Calgary failed to cover. They managed to tie the game at 2-2 in the third period, but Edmonton scored twice more to secure the win.
Calgary’s offense was held to just two goals in their 4-2 loss to Edmonton. Anthony Mantha netted his fourth goal of the season on a power play, while Yegor Sharangovich added his first goal of the year. The Flames fired 31 shots on goal but were hampered by 22 giveaways.
After a scoreless first period, Mantha got Calgary on the board at 15:27 in the second. Sharangovich followed with a goal at 15:32 in the third period, tying the game 2-2.
Calgary’s defense gave up the first two goals of the game, both in the first period, and two more late in the 3rd, including the game-winner at 9:50 and an empty-netter with 0:03 left. Dan Vladar made 27 saves with a 90% save percentage, while the defense recorded 4 takeaways and 13 hits.
When it comes to a moneyline wager, I’m going with the Flames to defeat the Red Wings while playing at home. Given the current moneyline odds at -120, I’m placing a wager on the Flames to win outright.
For my recommended choice in the puck line, I’m leaning towards the Red Wings to cover. Even if the Flames secure a straight-up win, this game is expected to be tightly contested, and the Red Wings should cover the puck line.
With an over/under line sitting at 5.5 goals, we like this game to surpass that mark and recommend getting a bet down on the over.
