As the entire Southwest Florida community continues to mourn the death of Sgt. Elio Diaz, there are a few fundraisers being held in January to support his wife and four children.
On Jan. 18, the Suffolk County (New York) Sheriff’s Office will play the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in a charity hockey game at Hertz Arena.
Puck drop is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., before the Florida Everblades take the ice at 7 p.m.

The Everblades will also donate $5 for every ticket bought.
There will be a charity auction on Jan. 27 at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in Punta Gorda.
Paddle sales start at 5:30 p.m., and they are $3 each. The auction is set to begin at 7 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, along with food and drinks.
