DAZN has started rolling out a new add-on package that offers live access to National Hockey League (NHL) games in more than 200 countries and territories.
The add-on hockey package is part of a multi-year rights agreement between the sports streamer and the NHL that will see DAZN offer live access to all regular season and Stanley Cup playoff games throughout the season.
The service will be available as a standalone subscription or as an add-on to existing DAZN packages. Fans will be able to stream games on smart TVs, mobile devices, tablets and gaming consoles. DAZN said it plans to integrate NHL.TV across its platform, offering coverage to a global base of more than 120 million registered sports users.
“The launch of NHL.TV on DAZN is a game-changer for hockey fans around the world,” said Shay Segev, the CEO of DAZN Group. “By combining DAZN’s global platform and technology with the NHL’s world-class product, we’re delivering the ultimate experience to fans – anytime, anywhere.”
The agreement covers more than 200 countries and territories, but not the United States or Canada, where other television broadcasters have streaming rights to NHL games. A handful of games each year will also not be available on DAZN’s app in Germany, Austria and Switzerland due to domestic TV rights being held by other broadcasters, though DAZN said those games will be available to stream on the platform after they air on TV.
The partnership introduces several new features to NHL.TV subscribers. Viewers will have access to home and away broadcast feeds for most games and will be able to watch one free game of the week in eligible markets.
DAZN will also offer an “Ultimate Tier” option with multiview capabilities for up to four concurrent games, extended device support and a one-time 15 percent discount code for online purchases made through the NHL store. (On Monday, DAZN announced similar perks for fans of the NFL in Canada, where it offers live NFL games.)
Existing international NHL.TV subscribers will see no price increase in 2025. DAZN said those customers will receive an email with a “magic link” to activate their new accounts and transition seamlessly to the DAZN platform. New users can subscribe starting immediately, ahead of the October start of the next NHL season.
Other enhancements include broader device compatibility, with NHL.TV now supported on over 100 devices, and expanded offline viewing options.
NHL Chief Operating Officer Steve McArdle called the deal an opportunity to build on the league’s international growth.
“We are thrilled to partner with DAZN to continue to expand our global reach and engage with our fast-growing international fan base,” McArdle said. “Our shared commitment to innovation, gold standard technology and providing an exceptional service will allow us to deliver NHL content to hockey fans around the world on the platforms they prefer.”
