Dallas holds a 1-0 edge after a gritty 3-2 win, and all eyes are on the goalies tonight—Jake Oettinger and Connor Hellebuyck are the projected starters.
Oettinger, known for slow playoff starts, flipped the script in Game 1. He turned aside 29 of 31 shots and has now allowed two or fewer goals in four of his five postseason victories. He’s locking in at the perfect time, and with Dallas rolling, he’s not giving up that net any time soon.
Hellebuyck, meanwhile, had flashes of brilliance in round one but got tagged in the second period of Game 1, surrendering three goals in under eight minutes. He’ll need to sharpen up quickly—Winnipeg can’t afford to fall behind 2-0.

Dallas fell to 50-26-6 with a 4-2 loss to the Panthers. The Stars trailed 2-0 before tying it up, but Florida pulled away with two more goals. Dallas was the underdog on the puck line, and the pre-game total was set at 6.5 goals, with the combined score reaching 6.
Evgenii Dadonov got the Stars on the board in the second period, and Matt Duchene added another to tie the game. However, the Panthers responded with two more goals, including an empty-netter, to seal the win.
Dallas fired 25 shots on goal but only managed to score twice in their 4-2 loss to Florida. Evgenii Dadonov netted his second goal of the season on a power play, while Matt Duchene added his seventh goal and picked up his eighth assist.
The Stars were held scoreless in the first period before finding the net twice in the second. They had 32 giveaways in the game.
Defensively, the Stars will look to improve after giving up the first goal and two more late in the 3rd period, including an empty-netter. Casey DeSmith made 21 saves with a save percentage of 87.5%. The Stars’ defense also contributed 5 takeaways and 26 hits.
After a 7-4 win over the Lightning, the Jets improved to 56-22-4. Winnipeg covered the puck line as -1.5 goal favorites, and the total of 11 goals easily surpassed the pre-game line of 6.5.
The Jets fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but seven different players contributed a goal to help them rally for the win.
Winnipeg’s offense fired 34 shots on goal, resulting in 7 goals, including two empty-netters. Each of their seven goals came from different players, with Vladislav Namestnikov netting his third of the season. Alex Iafallo added his first goal of the year on a power play.
The Jets scored once in the first period, twice in the second, and added four more in the third. Nikolaj Ehlers, who scored his 9th goal on an empty net, also picked up his 9th assist.
Defensively, the Jets struggled early, allowing the first two goals of the game and another in the third period, which tied the score at 4-4. However, they didn’t give up another goal after that, leading to a 7-4 win. Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves with an 86.7% save percentage, and the Jets’ defense added 5 takeaways and 31 hits.
When making a moneyline pick, my choice is the Jets to come out with a win against the Stars while playing at home. Considering the moneyline odds at -124, I’m placing my bet on the Jets to win outright.
For a puck line pick, we are going with the Jets to win and cover. Look for the Jets to win this one by multiple goals over the Stars.
With an over/under line sitting at 5.5 goals, we like this game to surpass that mark and recommend getting a bet down on the over.
