Thursday's Columbus Blue Jackets game is about more than just hockey.
In partnership with OhioHealth, the CBJ are hosting Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Nationwide Arena as they take on the Edmonton Oilers. The annual event is dedicated to honoring those who have battled or are currently fighting cancer, while raising awareness and support for cancer-related causes. Fans attending the game will receive a Hockey Fights Cancer fleece blanket, while supplies last, and are encouraged to wear lavender, the official color representing all types of cancer.

Fans will have opportunities to show their support and recognize loved ones through various activities. OhioHealth will provide ribbon colors for fans to place on a giant cancer ribbon in honor of someone they fight for. Screening checklists also will be available. "I Fight For" Battle Cards will be available for fans to share their personal connection to the fight against cancer.
Thursday on Good Day Columbus, anchors Kurt Ludlow, Katie McKee, Andrew Buck Michael, and Alissa Henry wore lavender and filled out Battle Cards, speaking about people in their lives who are in the cancer battle. Cameron Fontana also joined them remotely and talked about his wife Katie's throat cancer diagnosis, and cure.
For the game, a special ticket package is available for the first 750 purchasers, which includes a discounted game ticket and an exclusive Mathieu Olivier bobblehead. The evening also will mark the debut of the 2025 Class of Pediatric Cancer Heroes, honored through the Blue Jackets Foundation’s Heroes program. More than 1,000 guests from local cancer support organizations will attend the game free of charge.
