WACH — The Richland County Blueliners and the Greenville Guardians hit the ice on Saturday for their annual charity hockey game, raising money to support homeless veterans in South Carolina’s Midlands region.
The event, held in partnership with the Knights of Columbus Council 1072 and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, combined hockey with a strong sense of community purpose.
The Richland County Blueliners, a team made up entirely of local first responders, claimed victory in the energetic matchup.
Deputies from the TV show On Patrol: Live made special appearances, and the event featured exciting giveaways, raffles, and team merchandise.
Team co-founder Michael Doire said that the game’s mission goes beyond competition.
Proceeds supported Tunnel to Towers’ work helping homeless veterans, as well as giving mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and the families of fallen first responders.
