The Canucks start six points back of the Blues for the second and final Wild Card berth in the West. Already out of the playoff picture, the Kraken can drag their rivals down the I-5 with them.

There are plenty of inflection points to draw where it could have gone wrong for the Vancouver Canucks this season but their disastrous six-game road trip might be the final straw.
Vancouver was dumped 3-1 by the Presidents Trophy-chasing Winnipeg Jets, finishing their six-game road trip at 2-2-2, leaving much-needed points on the table. That included a crucial OT loss to the Blues and blowing a pair of multi-goal leads in Columbus to lose in overtime.
It’s not like Rogers Arena is friendly to them either: Vancouver’s 15-13-7 home record is tied for the fewest wins of any team still alive in the West. They’re fortunate to have the Seattle Kraken on the schedule to kick off this final eight games of the year.
The Kraken are coming off back-to-back losses in Dallas, and they’ve just a single win over the last six games. Seattle has had problems keeping the puck out of its net all year, currently ranking Bottom 10 in the NHL at 3.23 goals against per game.
That should be a big help for Vancouver, who currently sit 21st in scoring, putting up just 2.84 goals per game.
Seattle has owned this head-to-head of late, winning six of the last eight meetings with Vancouver, with three of those wins coming as moneyline underdogs. A win on Wednesday would give the Kraken the season series, taking three of four.
The more logical bet, though, is the Over. No matter how they’ve been scoring or playing, topping the total seems to always be in the cards when Seattle and Vancouver square off. These teams have cashed the Over in nine of the last 10 matchups, including all three this season at 5.5 goals — the same number set for Wednesday.
The Canucks have cashed the Over in six of their last seven, while the Kraken have seen the Over go 4-2-1 over their last seven.
This is just the second time in the last 11 games the Canucks have been a moneyline favorite.
Each of Vancouver’s last seven games against opponents on a losing streak has cashed the Over. The Canucks’ O/U record is 3-1 in their last four games at home.
Seattle has been the moneyline underdog in six straight games, going 1-5 in those contests. The Kraken have won each of their last five road games against opponents on a losing streak.
