WRITTEN BEFORE SATURDAY’S GAME

Canucks Looking to Stay Hot

The Vancouver Canucks are looking to figure out how to continue racking up points as they are currently competing for the top three spots in the division. Their recent 2-1 home win against the Toronto Maple Leafs showed the fact they can win against quality opponents.

This Vancouver team enters the game with a handful of players on the injury report and four of them being ruled out for the game. Nonetheless, defenseman Quinn Hughes, leading the team with 59 points, continues to be one of the most significant figures for Vancouver’s offense. They need to figure out how to continue getting on the power play as they convert at a 22.9 rate.

With the season continuing to march on, the Canucks’ spirit needs to continue shining, underscored by the offensive unit’s ability to put up 3.00 goals per game, with Arturs Silovs emerging as a presence between the pipes, recording one win thus far and a .847 save percentage plus 4.11 goals allowed per game so far this year.

Injury Report for Vancouver

Defenseman Shea Theodore: Arm (OUT)

Right winger Victor Olofsson: Upper Body (Questionable)

Center William Karlsson: Lower Body (OUT)

Right winger Cole Schwindt: Lower Body (OUT)

Defenseman Lukas Cormier: Undisclosed (OUT)

Hockey Club Looking Decent

The Utah Hockey Club, sitting in fifth place in the Central Division, need to continue keeping their foot on the gas as they are more focused in the Wild Card race. In the latest outing, the Hockey Club won on the road in a shootout against the Capitals, which showcased the team’s ability to keep up with a playoff-contending team.

The road to getting a spot in the playoffs is not going to be without its obstacles. Even with a pair of players on the injury report, and one is listed as questionable, Utah is holding onto the fifth spot in the Central Division playoff spot entering this game. Offensively, right winger Clayton Keller has been leading the way with 60 points. They will need goalie Karel Vejmelka who has done well with 2.57 goals allowed and a .909 save percentage.

Utah’s offensive firepower is struggling a bit with 2.80 goals per game, ranking 22nd in the league. The special teams have been a point of conversation for the team right now, with a power play conversion rate of 22.4% and a penalty kill efficiency of 81.4, reflecting the Hockey Club’s need to rely on special teams.

Injury Report for Utah

Center Logan Cooley: Lower Body (Questionable)

Defenseman Robert Bortuzzo: Lower Body (OUT)

Insiders Status:

These teams are on different levels lately on the defensive side of the ice as Vancouver is allowing 1.3 goals in their previous four games while Utah is giving up 4.3 goals in their last three games. The penalty kill percentage shows these teams are very similar as the Canucks have an 80.9 kill percentage while the Hockey Club has an 81.2 kill percentage. All in all, go with the Vancouver Canucks to win as a road underdog.

Insiders Status:

These teams are scoring well on the power play as Vancouver is 13th in the NHL with a 22.9 power play percentage while Utah is 14th with a 22.4 power play percentage so far this season. They are also scoring goals at a good level as the Canucks are scoring 2.3 goals in their last three games while the Hockey Club is averaging 3.7 goals in their previous three games. Go with over 5.5 goals in this game as well.

Sports has been my love since playing as one of the first first girls in farm and little league baseball. When I was in college I wrote about local sporting events and after leaving school I worked at colleges and universities as an assistant athletic director and an athletic director. After venturing out on my own as a freelance sports writer I accepted work as an online writer for sports betting sites and have done that for 10 years. Basketball is my passion including the NCAA and NBA as well as European ball, but I make picks on all sports across the board. Moneyline, point spread or over/under, I can find an angle for each in any sporting event on the planet.
