Both the Canucks and the Canadiens are on the latter half of a back-to-back, but our NHL betting picks believe Vancouver is in a far better spot than Montreal. Ilya Mikheyev should lead the charge for the Canucks vs. the Habs' lackluster defense.

The Canucks and Canadiens face off on Sunday night in a battle between teams that had different fates on Saturday. Vancouver lost 5-2 in Toronto, while Montreal got past the Bruins 3-2 in overtime at home. Yet the Canucks are sizable road favorites in the NHL odds tonight.
Saturday’s loss ended a five-game winning streak for Vancouver, which is off to a blazing 10-3-1 this season. Montreal sits at 7-5-2 through 14 games.
Who will take home two points in this all-Canadian clash? Read on for our Canucks vs. Canadiens NHL picks and predictions for November 12.
The Canucks‘ win streak had to come to an end sometime, and it ended with a thud in Toronto on Saturday night. However, Vancouver played well in that one with a 33-22 shot differential despite the 5-2 defeat.
The Canadiens fought until overtime for an emotional win over the rival Bruins on Saturday night. Their depth will be tested — as will the Canucks’ — in the second half of a back-to-back.
While the Canucks are off to a great start, there is going to be some regression and some things that don’t go their way.
“We have to be careful,” Vancouver head coach Rick Tocchet said. “If things are slipping in our game, we’ve got to address it as a group. I thought the last few games there’s pockets of the game where I think teams are outworking us. We’ve got to play desperate hockey, too. You have to match the level your opponent. Like I said, it’s 82 games. There’s some stinkers and sometimes you learn from a stinker.”
Tocchet hopes that his team can bounce back from Saturday’s stinker much like they did after their last defeat with a 5-2 victory over Nashville to start the aforementioned win streak.
The back-to-back situation is not good news for the Canadiens. Earlier this season, Montreal won 3-1 in Buffalo before getting beat 5-2 at home the next night by the Devils. In fact, the Canadiens have lost five of their last six games on no rest dating back to last season.
Tocchet will have his team ready to get back on track in Montreal on Sunday night.

Canucks moneyline
Over 6.5
Ilya Mikheyev anytime goal
The Canucks are our best bet for tonight, so we’re using them as the first leg of our parlay.
After that, we’re looking at the total in this one. Both teams are on the second half of a back-to-back and have mostly played higher-scoring games this season.
There have been Over 6.5 goals in each of the last three Canucks games and six of their last seven overall. They’re the highest-scoring team in the league at 4.36 goals per game and should be able to maintain that average against a Canadiens team with lackluster defense and goaltending.
So, with the Canucks and the Over, there are bound to be a few different goalscorers for Vancouver.
First-line winger Ilya Mikheyev has been the beneficiary of some great play around him. Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are receiving recognition, but Mikheyev has been creating offense as well.
Mikheyev leads the Canucks in scoring chances (25) and high-danger chances (13) at 5-on-5 play. That’s resulted in 2.29 expected goals and five goals in 10 games.
Back the Canucks in a high-scoring game tonight between two backup goalies.

The Canucks opened as respectable road favorites at -160 in this one with the Canadiens at +135 as home underdogs. Many sites have since moved the price on Vancouver to the -175 range.
The total is set at 6.5 with the Over 6.5 favored at -120 and the Under 6.5 at +100.
There should be goals in this game. Both teams are able to put the puck in the net and there could be some sloppy defense on a back-to-back. The Over 6.5 would be my play for the total.
The Canadiens are 1-11 in their last 12 vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Find more NHL betting trends for Canucks vs. Canadiens.
